A recent FCC filing may have revealed Nintendo’s plan to release a wireless Super Nintendo controller for the Nintendo Switch

, which would be very similar to its release of the wireless NES controllers alongside the addition of NES games to Nintendo Switch Online.Discovered by ResetERA user Link83, the filing includes a single image that very much resembles the back of a SNES controller. Furthermore, the model number – HAC-042 – is inline with other Nintendo Switch model numbers. The Switch itself is HAC-001 and the wireless NES Controllers are HAC-033 and HAC-034.

It’s important to note that it doesn’t reference the Switch or Super Nintendo anywhere in the filing, and the equipment name is simply Wireless Game Device, but it is pretty clear what this filing would be for.

Nintendo Switch Online and the first batch of NES games were made available on September 18, 2018, and while there have been some data mines and such that have hinted at SNES games arriving to Nintendo’s latest console, we haven’t had any true confirmation.

The next NES games to be released on Nintendo Switch are Kung-Fu Heroes and Vice: Project Doom, signaling that many of the biggest NES titles have already been released, so an expansion of Nintendo Switch Online’s offerings would be a most welcome one.

With the one-year anniversary of Nintendo Switch Online coming up, as well as the launch of the Nintendo Switch Lite and a new base model with a better battery life, it may be the perfect time for Nintendo to begin adding some or all of our Top 100 SNES Games of All Time for Switch owners around the world.
